Biography
Thomas Moore (1779-1852), poet, was born in Dublin on 28 May 1779. He attended Trinity College, Dublin, and was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1799. He became admiralty registrar at Bermuda in 1803. Moore won a reputation as the national lyricist of Ireland through his Irish melodies, published between 1807 and 1834 with music by Sir John Stevenson. His other works include Poetical works of the late Thomas Little (1801) and Lalla Rookh (1817). He died at Sloperton Cottage, near Calne, Wiltshire, on 25 February 1852.

A calligraphic manuscript of Poetical works of the late Thomas Little, 124 numbered pages, executed by Ensign George Mackay. At the front of the volume is the bookplate of Lord Gray.
