Biography
Francisco Gomez de Quevedo y Villegas (1580-1645), poet and satirist, was born into a wealthy family in Madrid on 17 September 1580. He attended the Universities of Alcala and Valladolid before settling in Madrid. In 1613 he travelled to Italy with the Duke of Osuna on diplomatic service. Quevedo's publications in the 1620s and 1630s established his reputation as a writer. Despite this, he was arrested in Madrid, and imprisoned from 1639 to 1643. He died at Villanueva de los Infantes on 8 September 1645.

A collection of manuscript poems and prose, with an index at the end, 220 folios, with a title page and three blank leaves. Fos 20-34 have been removed. There are six accompanying loose pages of manuscript notes by E.M. Wilson listing the contents of the volume.
