Biography

James Donn (1758-1813), botanist and gardener, was born in Perthshire. He was appointed curator of the university botanic garden in Cambridge in 1794, in which post he remained until his death in 1813. His name is associated with a remarkable publication, Hortus Cantabrigiensis, the first edition of which Donn published in 1796. He died in Cambridge on 14 June 1813.
