Biography

Michael George Glazebrook (1853-1926), headmaster and Church of England clergyman, was born in London on 4 August 1853. He was educated at Brentford grammar school, Blackheath proprietary school, and Dulwich College, where he became head of the school, and in 1872 entered Balliol College, Oxford, as a mathematical scholar. In 1878 he became assistant master at Harrow, and in 1888 Glazebrook was appointed high master of Manchester grammar school. In 1891 he was appointed headmaster of Clifton College, then in 1905, was appointed canon of Ely Cathedral, where he became a leader of the Modern Churchmen movement.
