Biography

Charles Cavendish Fulke Greville (1794-1865), clerk of the Privy Council and diarist, was born on 2 April 1794. He was educated at Eton College and at Christ Church, Oxford, which he left without taking a degree to become private secretary to Lord Bathurst, secretary of state for war and the colonies in Lord Liverpool's administration. Greville was appointed to a clerkship-in-ordinary to the privy council. He died of heart disease on 18 January 1865.
