Biography
Algernon Herbert (1792-1855), antiquary, was born on 12 July 1792. He was educated at Eton College from 1805, and then went to Christ Church, Oxford, where he matriculated on 23 October 1810. He afterwards migrated to Exeter College, where he graduated BA in 1813 and proceeded MA in 1825. He was elected a fellow of Merton College in 1814, and became sub-warden in 1826 and dean in 1828. On 27 November 1818 he was called to the bar at the Inner Temple. Herbert died at Ickleton, Cambridgeshire, on 11 June 1855.
