Biography

Alfred Henry Huth (1850-1910), book collector, was born in London on 14 January 1850. In August 1864 Alfred was sent to Rugby School, which he left at the end of 1866. After a brief enrolment at London University in 1867, he was sent to the University of Berlin (1867-8). In 1875 he published The Marriage of Near Kin Considered with Respect to the Laws of Nations. His work on his own collections resulted in the publication in 1910 of A Catalogue of the Woodcuts and Engravings in the Huth Library. He died suddenly on 14 October 1910 at Fullerton Wherwell, Hampshire.
