Biography

Gustaf Hilding Kjellman (1885-1953), Professor of Romance languages at Gothenburg University (1922-35), was born 22 May 1885 in Uppsala, Sweden. Kjellman took the matriculation examination in Uppsala in 1903, enrolled at Uppsala University the same year, became BA in 1905, Lic 1908, PhD and Associate Professor of Romance Languages ??at Uppsala University in 1913, lecturer in French at a Stockholm teacher training in Stockholm 1919-23, and professor in Romance Languages ??at the University of Gothenburg 1923-1935 and its Vice President 1931-35 and inspector of the Student Union 1933-35. Kjellman was librarian in Värmlands nation in Uppsala during the spring semester of 1908, its first curator 1908-09, Uppsala Student Union president 1911-12 and president of the student union building committee from 1929.
