Anderson, James Drummond, 1852-1920 (administrator and linguist)
Biography
James Drummond Anderson (1852-1920), Indian administrator and linguist, was a member of the Indian Civil Service from 1873 until 1900, and later a lecturer in Benagli at the University of Cambridge. He published a collection of Kachari folk-tales, of Chittagong proverbs, and other works on the languages of North-East India, usually under the name of "J. D. Anderson".
