Biography
Sir John Robert Seeley (1834-95), knight; historian and essayist, was Professor of Latin, University College London, 1863-69, and Regius Professor of Modern History, Cambridge, 1869-95. Robert Herbert Quick (1831-91), clergyman, schoolmaster, educational writer, and lecturer in the history of education, Cambridge, 1881-83, was Vicar of Sedburgh, Yorkshire, 1883-87.

Correspondence from Sir John R. Seeley
Letters mostly to Clark, with some to his wife Frances Clark (d.1908), Adam Sedgwick (1785-1873) and others, mainly routine in nature, and collected for their autograph value. Another volume, containing letters of scientists, was not acquired. The original numbering in each volume has been retained; in this catalogue the letters are grouped by subject.
