Biography

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-93), Russian composer, was born on May 7, 1840, in Votkinsk in the Vyatka district of Russia. His works included symphonies, concertos, operas, ballets, chamber music, and a choral setting of the Russian Orthodox Divine Liturgy. He died in St Petersburg on 6 November 1893.
