Biography

Albrecht Friedrich Weber (1825-1901), orientalist, was born in Breslau on 17 February 1825. He studied in Breslau, Bonn, and in Berlin, 1842-1845, busying himself especially with literature and Sanskrit archaeology, and received a doctor's degree at Breslau. In 1856 he became an adjunct professor of the language and literature of ancient India at the University of Berlin, and in 1867 he was made full professor. Weber died in Berlin on 30 November 1901.
