Biography

Spencer George Perceval (1838-1922), antiquary and geologist, was born on 8 July 1838, the son of Ernest August Perceval, Captain, 15th Hussars. He attended Radley College, before entering Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1858 (B.A., 1862). He lived at Severn House, Henbury, in Gloucestershire, and at Longwitton Hall, Northumberland. He died on 7 March 1922.

Pasted inside the front cover is an extract from The Bristol times and mirror, 16 November 1909, being a letter contributed by S.G. Perceval, announcing his discovery of the book.
