Biography

George Alexander Wilken (1847-1891), Professor of Ethnography of the Indian Archipelago at Leyden. Sir James William Redhouse (1811-1892), oriental scholar, worked for the government of Turkey at Constantinople, before serving in the Turkish navy. He was Secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1861-1864, and a leading authority on the Osmanli-Turkish language.
