Biography

The poet, novelist, and writer of short stories Jackie Kay was born in Edinburgh in 1961. Her works include the volumes of poetry 'The Adoption Papers', 'Darling: New & Selected Poems' and 'Fiere', the novel 'Trumpet', and an autobiography, 'Red Dust Road'. She teaches at Newcastle University and lives in Manchester. In 2006 she was awarded an MBE for services to literature.

Scope and Contents From the Series:

There were 18 Prospero Poets editions, from 1994 to 1997. Most subseries here include papers relating to the individual publication and to the accompanying Clarion Newsletter. Further correspondence involving the designer Dennis Hall and series editor Simon Rae will be found in subseries D1.

Scope and Contents

Work by Jackie Kay arising from a residency at Kettle's Yard. Comprises colour scan printouts of 'Helen's room', 'A conversation between the darkness and the light at Kettle's Yard', and a drawing of a woman. The printouts were made in Cambridge University Library from digital .jpg scans supplied by Kay.
