Scope and Contents

Letters, mainly from Alan Lascelles, written while serving as aide to his brother-in-law, George Lloyd [later 1st Baron Lloyd], Governor of Bombay.
During this period, Alan Lascelles met and married Joan Thesiger, daughter of the Viceroy of India, Lord Chelmsford [Frederick John Napier Thesiger, 1st Viscount Chelmsford].

Conditions Governing Access: From the Fonds: Permission to consult CLOSED material within the Lascelles papers (LASL 1/2/1-6; and sections of LASL 2-4) and the catalogue describing the closed material must be obtained from the Royal Archives.
