Telegram from Evatt [Australian Minister of External Affairs and Attorney General] marked "most secret" to WSC thanking him for his "thoughtful wire", commenting on plan to provide Spitfires for Australia, and stating that a black swan has been allocated to WSC and will arrive after plumage attaches itself in August.

Letter from WSC (Chateau Bordaberry [Near Hendaye, France]) to Clement Attlee [Leader of the Labour Party] stating that he might require a Government servant during his mission to Berlin [Potsdam Conference, Germany] and suggesting Chamberlain, one of the messengers at Number 10 [carbon].

Letter from Commander Charles Thompson [Personal Assistant to the Minister of Defence] to Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Gale [Military Operations Directorate, War Office] stating that WSC agrees that the contingent arrangements for guards at Chartwell or Ditchley [Dytchley Park, Oxfordshire] may be cancelled. Initialled. Carbon copy.

Note from Leslie Rowan [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] to WSC informing him that the President [Roosevelt] has sent him 6 new maps in substitution for some which are now in the map cabinet at No.10, and suggesting text for a short telegram of thanks. [Initialled typescript] [Dated 2 Jan 1944, but presumably 2 Jan 1945] Initialled and dated by WSC in red ink.

Telegram from WSC to President Roosevelt marked "personal" thanking him for the 6 new maps for his map cabinet, "which were safely delivered today".

Note from Kathleen Hill [Personal Secretary to WSC] to John Colville [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] informing him that Anita Leslie has accepted the invitation to lunch at Chequers [Buckinghamshire] on Friday and asking him to arrange for the car to call for Miss Leslie at 12.20 pm and to combine her with Commander Guest if he accepts. [initialled typescript] With further ms annotations by Kathleen Hill and John Colville regarding arrangements.

Note from John Colville [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] to WSC asking whether he wants to invite Miss Anita Leslie and Lieutenant-Commander Raymond Guest to luncheon on Friday at 1.30 pm. [Initialled typescript] With annotation in red by WSC: "Yes at Chequers. Friday. I shall go down Thursday myself. arrange transport." With further pencil annotations by Kathleen Hill [Personal Secretary to WSC] regarding Anita Leslie's address.

Note [?from Private Office] to WSC informing him of Bernard Baruch's expected arrival in the United Kingdom tomorrow [29 Mar 1945], giving details of Mr Baruch's party, and asking about the arrangements at Chequers for entertaining Mr Baruch, Brendan Bracken [Minister of Information] and John Winant [United States Ambassador in London] [annotated typescript].

Part of a letter from [Lady Randolph Churchill] to [Lord Randolph Churchill] in which she says that she has accepted an invitation to Muckross [County Cork, Ireland] on WSC's behalf; discusses financial affairs and the payment of servants' wages and says that she hopes that Cornelia [Lady Guest, later Lady Wimborne, earlier Lady Cornelia Churchill] will not object to her bringing Marie.
