Biography
Robert Forbes was a commercial photographer active in South Africa. He had a studio at 14 Loop Street, Pietermaritzburg. His residence was in Pietermaritzburg Street 1872-77. In 1878 his business was based at 8 Greyling Street, Pietermaritzburg. From 1889-94 he appears to have been active in Bethlehem (Bensusan 1963, p.233).
He was possibly the same Robert Forbes mentioned in the 'Natal almanac 1879' who was a planter in Kruisfontein, Umhai.
