Biography

C.A. Killie was a missionary with the American Presbyterian Mission in China. He is not listed in the 1889 edition of 'Chronicle and directory for China, Japan...', but in the 1895 edition is stationed at Ichow-fu. Killie was in Beijing during the Boxer uprising of 1900 and made a series of photographs during the siege of the Beijing. The photographs were later mounted in albums with letterpress captions pasted beneath. They were probably sold commercial since the pictures have copyright statements.
