'Original 101 ton gun - 1887', 1887
277 x 191 mm. A view showing this huge gun, mounted on Railway Proof Carriage either No. 10 or 11, with a Manning Wardle steam locomotive behind it on the line. Of the various men standing in front of the gun only Francis Henry Young and Captain Francis Edward Acland, Assistant Superintendent of Experiments 1884-1888, are identified. The original caption has been amended in pencil to read 111 tons.
