Photographs on three disbound album sheets, relating chiefly to the eruption of Mont Pelé, Martinique, on 8 May 1902 when Austin was sent back to find out what had happened to the members of the Colonial Bank. They are by A.P.G. Austin and others and the majority are small snapshots. Captions have been added, chiefly by comparison with the photographs listed in Y307E. Numbers 1-17 were taken on St Pierre between 11 and 14 May (according to a note on the pages) presumably by Austin, with...

Scope and Contents
150 x 100 mm. By Sir Wilfred Collett, Governor of British Guiana, where the matched were held in October 1922. The captain of the victorious team was Sir Harold Austin (1877 - 1943) whose career in Barbados included membership of the Executive Committee, Presidency of the Board of Education and Speakership of the House of Representatives, brother of A.P.G. Austin who is also in the photograph.
