A journal of the situation of HMS Providence at noon during her late voyage on discoveries, 1795-10-11 - 1797-05-16
As shown by the log, by Mr Earnshaw's three timekeepers, by Mr Arnold's two timekeepers, and also by lunar observations. The journal includes a summary of the latitudes and longitudes of 'most of the remarkable places seen in the voyage' [RGO 14/68: 145v].
Astronomical observations made between St Helen’s and Rio [de] Janeiro, 1794-10-09 - 1795-05-03
The observations begin with a note on receiving the four timekeepers from William Wales, and on their rate. Included are observations taken at St Helens; at Drake’s Island, Plymouth Sound; at Torbay and Cawsand Bay; at Sancta Cruz Bay in Tenerife; and observation taken on board the ship while at sea.
