The elected Kingship of of Malaya was the result of proposals of the Reid Constitutional Commission of 1956 which covered provisions for a head of state to be elected from amongst the rulers of the various states, and who would hold office for five years. Scope and Contents 197 x 148 mm. Showing Tuanku Abdul Rahman and his consort Tunku Ampuan Kursiah seated on the decorated dais in the audience hall for the Menghadap. The triennal menghadap was inaugurated at Sri Menanti in 1901 and on these occasions the ruling chiefs paid homage to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar in front of members of the royal family and government officials.
