Exact location is unidentified, but this and the following print are good examples of European domestic dwellings in the tropics. The house was possibly Cameron's own residence. Muka is situated at the extreme north-west tip of Penang Island. A photograph probably taken shortly after the completion of these buildings in 1884 (Straits Settlements Blue Book, 1884).

208 x 155 mm. A view looking along the unkempt garden towards the thatched and verandahed bungalow. Posed in front of the building are a European family (unidentified) and Indian servants. Lomond Bungalow was situated on the northern end of Penang (or Government) Hill.

208 x 154 mm. A view looking along the main street which is lined with low thatched houses, beneath the verandahs of which are traders and their wares. Beyond is a European building (? possibly the hospital built 1883). Balik Pulau is situated in the centre of Penang.

Pulo Reino [i.e. Pulau Rimau] Lighthouse, Penang, 1883
210 x 155 mm. A general view of the lighthouse neighbouring buildings on the small island of Pulau Rimau which lies off the extreme south east tip of Penang Island. From the piles of building material and newly cleared bush still in evidence, the photograph would appear to have been taken around 1883. The lighthouse was built between 1881-1883 and the light erected the following year (Straits Settlements Blue Books, 1881-1884).

Steam ferry, Prai River, Penang, 1884

Showing the raft ferry, powered by a steam engine and protected by a roof above the open sides, on the Prai River, which debouches, on the Port Wellesley mainland near Butterworth, opposite George Town. On the raft itself are two Europeans in white uniforms, two hack gharries and a number of other passengers. A photograph probably taken in 1884 on completion of improvements to the Prai ferry.
