A report by Nelson Glueck (Director, American School of Oriental Research Jerusalem) and J.H. Iliffe (Keeper of Palestine Archaeological Museum Jerusalem) on the future, post World War II, direction of field archaeology - in the Mediterranean and Near East - as based on the recommendations of the League of Nations (United Nations) in its 18th session (1937). They propose major archaeological bodies come together to agree a way forward.

Dated 15 May 1936. Probably written in Istanbul. Stewart believes his dig in Balikesir will not happen (on account of Bittel meddling in the permit process) and his opportunity 'of doing useful original work on Jortan ware is gone'. He writes of another Syro-Hittite gold figurine, similar to that found by Chantre at Yozgad, which was bought pre war from a dealer in Aleppo.
