Biography

Townsend Duryea (junior) was born in Adelaide in 1854. He was the eldest son of Townsend Duryea (senior). He seems to have been connected with the Adelaide Photographic Company but he also had a studio under his own name (Cato 1955, p.174). The studio operating under his own name was based at Ryan Street, Moonta, South Australia, circa 1880-84. From 1884-91 it was at 150 Rundle Street, Adelaide. From 1892-1900 it was at 59 Rundle Street, Adelaide (Davies and Stanbury 1985, p.156). Duryea died at Port Pirie in 1925 (Cato 1955, p.174).
