Shear, Theodore Leslie, 1938- (archaeologist)
Biography
Born in Athens, where his father was Director of the American excavations in the Ancient Agora. Awarded a BA in Classics, Princeton, and a PhD from the Art and Archaeology Department, Princeton University in 1966. He became Director of American excavations in the Athenian Agora 1968-1994. Married Ione Mylonas in 1959 (daughter of the archaeologist George Mylonas).
