Scope and Contents
Manuscript letter. Undated, but presumed to be c. 1930. The letter discusses Jennings's 'system', interpretations of the death of Tamburlaine in Christopher Marlowe’s play and sixteenth century language more generally. A transcript of a letter from Jennings to Empson sent in January 1930 on the same subject is reproduced in the appendix to Kevin Jackson, 'Humphrey Jennings' (London: Picador, 2004).
