Biography

Elizabeth Butcher was born on 5 February 1849, eldest daughter of the Most Rev. Rt. Hon. Samuel Butcher, Lord Bishop of Meath and Mary Leahy. Elizabeth married Thomas Spring Rice (1849-1926), 2nd Baron Monteagle of Brandon on 26 October 1875. They had three children, Stephen Edmond (1877-1900), Mary Ellen (1880-1924) and Thomas Aubrey (1883-1934). Elizabeth died on 27 April 1908.
