Biography

Edward Towry White was born in Stanwix, Cumbria, 19 June 1847. He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge, BA, 1870, MA, 1873. He was an architect by profession but he had an interest in archaeology. He travelled in Egypt and published articles on Egyptian antiquities. He married Elizabeth Emma Lapidge, 1873. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, 1894. He died in Fittleworth, Sussex, 20 April 1932.
