Biography

Sir William Fletcher Barrett (1844-1925), physicist and psychical researcher, was Professor of Experimental Physics at the Royal College of Physics, Dublin, 1873-1910. In January 1882 he called a meeting at the offices of the British National Association of Spiritualists, which led to the foundation of SPR, of which he was an original member. He was influential also in the foundation of the American SPR in 1885
