Biography

Carola Nance Braunholtz was born on 13 December 1933, the daughter of Hermann Justus Braunholtz (1888-1963), afterwards Keeper of the Department of Ethnography in the British Museum, and Joan Margaret, née Raymont. She was educated at St George's School, Harpenden, Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford (B.A. 1956), and Hughes Hall, Cambridge (Cert. Ed. 1957). She taught Classics at St Christopher School, Letchworth, and is the author of numerous articles on classical Greek and Roman subjects. Peter Scupham and Carola Braunholtz were married at St John's Church, Harpenden, on 10 August 1957.
