Biography

Carola Nance Braunholtz was born on 13 December 1933, the daughter of Hermann Justus Braunholtz (1888-1963), afterwards Keeper of the Department of Ethnography in the British Museum, and Joan Margaret, née Raymont. She was educated at St George's School, Harpenden, Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford (B.A. 1956), and Hughes Hall, Cambridge (Cert. Ed. 1957). She married Peter Scupham at St John's Church, Harpenden, on 10 August 1957; they later divorced. She taught Classics at St Christopher School, Letchworth, and was the author of numerous articles on classical Greek and Roman subjects. She died on 27 October 2024.
