Biography

Alice Ambrose Lazerowitz was an American Philosopher. She studied philosophy and mathematics at Millikin University, completed her first PhD at the University of Winsconsin-Madison and went on to complete a second PhD at Cambridge University, after studying with Prof. G.E. Moore and Dr. Ludwig Wittgenstein. On returning to the U.S.A. in 1935 she worked at the University of Michigan and then took a position at Smith College. She became Professor Emeritus in 1972.
