Biography

William Yarrell (1784-1856) (zoologist), was the author of The history of British fishes (1836) and The history of British birds (1843). This was for many years the standard reference work for ornithologists. See Add.9839/6 above for Alfred Newton's revision of Yarrell's 3rd edn, 1856
