Biography

Born 18 April 1914, in Dorsetshire, England, and raised in Melbourne, Australia. Educated at the University of Melbourne and the University of Cambridge (PhD). He taught physics at various institutions in the United States and Canada including the Carnegie Institute Technology, Pittsburgh, Cleveland State University and Scarborough College, University of Toronto, Canada. His main works included 'The struggle to understand: a history of human wonder and discover' (1991) and 'Classical Mechanics' (1994). Died 17 March 2000, Pascagoula, Mississippi.
