Biography

Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695-1764) was born in Bergamo, Italy. As a virtuoso violinist he visited major musical centres of Europe, settling in Amsterdam in 1729 (where most of his music was published by his friend, Michel-Charles le Cène). A pirate edition of his Op. 3, from which these capriccios were copied, was published in Paris in 1742.
