Biography

Luca Agolini is known as a musician only in connection with Rossini's La Cenerentola, for which, according to the librettist, Ferretti, he wrote several recitatives and arias. The attribution of Santa Cecilia is made on the basis of a score and a set of performing parts (dated 1807) at the church of the Congregazione dell'Oratorio in Rome (Argia Bertini, Inventario del fondo musicale dell'Oratorio), although these do not quite match Add.9520. Since, however, this is clearly a working manuscript, the piece may well have undergone further transformations before the first performance.
