Biography
Tommaso Traetta (1727-79), Italian composer of serious and comic opera, was appointed court musician at Parma in 1758, director of the Conservatorio dellOspedaletto, Venice in 1765, and was court musician to Catherine II at St. Petersburg, Russia, 1768-75. His opera seria LOlimpiade, libretto from Metastasio, was first performed at Verona in 1758, and in a revised version, of which this score is a copy, at Florence in 1767.
