Biography

Sir Eugene Goossens (1893-1962), knight; conductor and musical critic, of a family of musicians of Belgian origin. He was conductor of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, 1931-46, and Director of the New South Wales Conservatorium and conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, 1947-56.
