Biography

Maria Aufrère was possibly the granddaughter of Anthony Aufrère (1730-1814), antiquary, of Old Foulsham Hall, Norfolk. He had two sons, George John Aufrère (1769-1853) and Philip Duval Aufrère (1776-1848). Maria Aufrère married a man named Squires.

Scope and Contents

Poems, some copies, but mostly original verse dedicated to family, friends and acquaintances. Included are poems by Caroline Aufrère, later Flavell (sister) (1798); and by George Aufrère (1796). There is also a presentation inscription in the volume, 'John W. Flavell from Mrs. Squires'.
