Biography

Henry Severne (1800-38), son of Samuel Severne of Wallop Hall, Shrewsbury, was midshipman on board HMS Dublin, 1813-14; HMS Bedford, 1814-15; HMS Ville de Paris, 1815; and HMS Savannah, 1815-16 (part of the squadron taking Napoleon to St. Helena, 1815). Severne was an undergraduate at Christ's College, Cambridge, 1820-24. He was afterwards ordained and became curate at Westbury, Shropshire.
