Biography

John Borlase Warren (1699-1763) was great-grandson of Alice, Lady Borlase (1621-83), whose monument in Paris is described in the journal. One of Warren's granddaughters married into the Vernon family.

Scope and Contents

The journal describes a tour in France, 9 October-20 November 1728, through Dieppe, Rouen, St. Germain-en-Laye, Versailles, Paris, Blois, and Angers, with descriptions of churches, palaces, gardens, statues, and fountains. The end of the tour may be missing from the description. The volume has the bookplates of a Lord Vernon and William Cavalier, Piedmont. 20pp.
