Biography
Thomas Orde (1746-1807), M.P., attended Eton College and King's College, Cambridge, 1765, of which he was a Fellow, 1768-78. He married Jean Browne Powlett, natural daughter of 5th Duke of Bolton, in 1778, assumed the name Orde-Powlett in 1795, and was created 1st Baron Bolton in 1797.

Scope and Contents
Manuscript and printed Latin and Greek verses, including 'Te Deum laudamus' and 'In obitum Ludovici XVI'; a sheet of 3 satirical portraits by Orde; a sketch portrait of an unnamed clergyman; and a sketch portrait of C.O. Goodford, Provost of Eton, 1877. The volume also includes printed pamphlets: Registrum regale: sive catalogus , Eton, 1774; another copy, extended to 1809 with MS additions; Honoratissimo viro Thomae Orde, Insulae cui nomen Vecti, praeposito... oden hanc inscriptam voluit...
