Scope and Contents The report, sent from Vienna, 4 July 1689, contains a detailed analysis of Louis XIV's relations with his family, mistresses and favourites; the excommunication of his ambassador to the Pope; religious persecutions; and the policies of other European states towards France. It was probably written as a brief for Venier's successor.
