Biography

Joseph Frank Payne (1840-1910) was a physician and committee member of the College of Physicians. Payne's brother, John Burnell Payne (1838-69), was a clergyman and art critic for the Pall Mall Gazette, and an acquaintance of George Eliot. Mrs. Evelyn Murphy was the daughter of J.F. Payne.
