Biography

Dorothy Verena Murray Chadwick was the daughter of James Murray Chadwick (1864-1938), son of Edward Chadwick (1828-1901), Vicar of Thornhill Lees, Yorkshire, 1857-1901. James Chadwick attended Bradford Grammar School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was Vicar of Greenhow Mill, Yorkshire, 1899-1903, and of Coombe St Nicholas, Somerset, 1903-1907, and perpetual curate of Burrowbridge, 1907-1925. His brother was the literary scholar Hector Munro Chadwick (1870-1947).

Scope and Contents

The collection contains a wide range of material relating to Dorothy Chadwick and her family, including correspondence; photographs; financial papers, such as bills and bank books; family trees; and birth, death and marriage certificates. There are also many notebooks and index cards relating to historical figures and places, including material on local history.
