Letter forwarding an account of a solar eclipse of 25 July 1767 observed by Captain Wallis from HMS 'Dolphin' in Port Royal Harbour, King George's Island (Tahiti). See also [RGO 4/187: 3].
John Harrison reports that he no longer has any record of the observations he made as purser on HMS Dolphin of the eclipse observed from Port Royal, Tahiti, on 25 July 1767.
Discovered by Captain Wallis in the Dolphin and seen by Captain Cook in the Resolution, June 6, 1774. The latitude and east and west longitude from Greenwich are indicated in the border. Signed by William Wales.
