Letters, printouts of emails, cards, and postcards sent to Anne Stevenson from friends, family, business associates, literary peers, companies, charities, educational institutions, and people who admired her work. Some letters are accompanied by copies of poems written by the correspondents. While some files have been restricted due to containing personal sensitive information, the majority of restrictions revolve around the existence of modern contact information (e.g. email addresses and mobile phone humbers) that may still be active. In those instances, files/items have been closed for 20 years from the date of their creation.

With the exception of one file closed until 1 January 2067 under the terms of the Data Protection Act (1998), the collection is open for consultation by researchers using the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library. The collection contains personal correspondence. The provisions of the Data Protection Act (1998) apply to access. Users of the collection are required to complete a Researcher Undertaking Concerning Access under the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to Archives Which Would Otherwise Be Closed.
