Jardine, Skinner and Co

 Organization

Biography

Jardine, Skinner & Co., a tea and general trading company, was founded initially in Bombay in 1825. It was reformed in Calcutta in 1844 by David Jardine and Charles Binny Skinner. Jardine was the nephew of William Jardine, one of the founders of Jardine, Matheson & Co., and there were close links between the two firms, which were both represented in London by Matheson & Co. Ltd. The company merged with George Henderson Ltd in 1946 to form Jardine Henderson Ltd.
