Biography
The library was founded by the associates of the late Dr. Bray, in the year 1823, for the use of the clergy of the four deaneries of Buckrose, Bulmer, Dickering and Ryedale, in the County and Diocese of York. It was based in the house belonging to the Grammar School of Old Malton, Malton.

Printed catalogue, 1824; with annotations relating to the cost of replacing lost books, signatures of members, and borrowings, 1824-47. There is a letter from T.E. Lindsay, Archdeacon of Cleveland, to Alfred James Walker, Vicar of Malton, 27 November 1928, on returning a book to Malton.
